Born in London W1 (just off Oxford Street) in March 1945 just before the end of the Second World War. Grew up in various places in North London, where I went to school and college.
Worked for 6 years in 1960s at head office of CND (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament), of which I’ve been an active supporter/member since 1961. Was a telegraph and telex operator for years until this was made obsolete by new technology. Worked for Amnesty International at the International Secretariat from 1985 till my retirement in 2007.
Have been a member of the Labour Party, the Young Communist League and the Communist Party of Great Britain, which I finally resigned from in 1976. I am no longer a member of any political party, but remain a Socialist, very much influenced by the theories of Karl Marx, but believing in multi-party democracy. I will re-join the Labour Party if Jeremy Corbyn becomes leader.
I am not religious, but like an increasing number of atheists/agnostics I believe there is overwhelming and increasing evidence of survival (or life-after-death). This evidence includes mediumship messages from people like Colin Fry (one of the best), OOBEs (out-of-the-body and near-death experiences), etc.. The idea of invisible worlds/other Spiritual planes all around us is not inconsistent with Quantum Physics theory of parallel universes/alternative dimensions interpenetrating our own. Same idea, different terminology.
My gay life-partner, George Miller, died in 1991. Since then I have lived on my own. Now spend a lot of time looking after my mother, who turned 100 in 2014 and is now in a nursing home.
Interests include writing, and all Roots Music (including traditional Country, Blues, Soul, 1950s style rock’n’roll and rockabilly), and especially Jerry Lee Lewis, the greatest performer who ever lived, and who is still very much alive. In 2006 he released his biggest-selling album ever, appeared on every major U.S. chat show, and in 2007 followed up the album with a 2-hour DVD with guest artists, much of which has been broadcast on PBS stations in USA. He is truly the Last Man Standing (title of his 2006 duets album and DVD). Since that ‘Mean Old Man’ CD and ‘Rock’n’Roll Time’ CD have been released from Jerry Lee, who turns 80 in 2015.
Hi Tony,
I’m writing a dissertation on the evolution of commercial services in the last 50 years and I find much of your writings quite interesting. I was hoping to get in touch with you and perhaps be able to ask you some questions which could potentially help my dissertation? Do let me know if you can help (which would be highly appreciated).

Looking forward to hopefully hearing from you soon.
